In his role, Justin analyzes project plans and specifications to develop accurate and competitive cost estimates. His work includes reviewing drawings, evaluating material and labour requirements, sourcing supplier pricing, and identifying potential risks or cost impacts before a project begins. Justin then collaborates closely with our internal teams to ensure we deliver comprehensive and reliable pricing solutions to our clients.

We asked Justin some questions! Here was our Q&A with Jacob this past week:
· Introduce yourself! What’s your name, title, how long you’ve been with Phoenix Energy, and a brief description of your role?
My name is Justin Tipper; I am a Senior Estimator at Phoenix Energy. I’ve been with the company for just over three years. In my role, I analyze project plans and specifications to develop accurate, competitive cost estimates. I review drawings, evaluate material and labor requirements, obtain supplier pricing, and identify potential risks or cost impacts before a project begins. I then collaborate closely with our internal teams to ensure we deliver the most accurate and comprehensive pricing to our clients.
· What inspired you to join Phoenix Energy, and how has your journey with the company been so far?
I was initially drawn to Phoenix Energy because it offered the stability and consistency I was seeking at that stage in my career. During my first interview, I quickly recognized the strong potential for growth and professional development within the organization, which made me feel it was the right fit for me. My journey with the company has been both rewarding and motivating, as I’ve had the opportunity to expand my skill set, take on new challenges, and continue learning through the unique demands of each project.
· How do you stay motivated and continue to develop your skills in your position?
I stay motivated by recognizing that there is always more to learn. I approach each day with a growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement. I greatly value the experience and insight of my teammates and actively seek their feedback to refine my skills and further develop professionally.
· What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career in the energy industry?
I would encourage anyone interested in the energy industry to remain open to learning, as it offers a wide range of career opportunities. It’s a constantly evolving field, so adaptability and a strong work ethic are essential. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, take initiative, and actively pursue opportunities for growth and development.
· What are your favourite activities or hobbies outside of work?
I’ve recently taken up golf and enjoy developing my skills in the sport. I also appreciate spending time outdoors, whether it’s going for walks with my fiancé or wake surfing during the summer months in the Okanagan and Shuswap.
· What’s a fun fact about you that most people might not know?
My fiancé and I have been together since we were 14 and are looking forward to celebrating our wedding in the fall of 2027.
